Generated color character — not a sample photograph

Fomapan R100 is a dedicated ISO 100 black-and-white reversal film from Czech maker Foma — process it in a reversal kit and you get true monochrome transparencies to hold up to the light or project, not negatives.

Character & look

As a reversal stock R100 gives punchy, high-contrast positive images with fine grain and a long, silvery tonal scale when processed correctly. Its latitude is narrow like any slide film, so exposure must be accurate. It is also popular with 16mm home-cine shooters. Standard R-100 reversal chemistry (or a home reversal process) is required — it is not a normal develop-and-scan negative.

Shooting & development tips

Expose carefully and consider rating slightly below box speed to protect highlights. Use Foma's reversal kit or a DIY reversal process; results depend heavily on precise development, so keep times and temperatures tight.

FAQ

Can I develop Fomapan R100 as a normal negative?

You can develop it in standard B&W developer to get a negative, but its purpose is reversal processing to yield a positive transparency. For slides you need a reversal kit or process.

Why is my R100 so contrasty?

Reversal film is inherently high-contrast. Nail your exposure and development times; even small errors show up quickly in the highlights and shadows.
