Vision3 50D (5203) is Kodak's daylight-balanced ECN-2 cinema negative, prized in still shooting for its ultra-fine grain, gentle contrast and enormous highlight latitude — the cleanest, most cinematic look in Kodak's motion-picture line.
Character & look
50D renders neutral, natural colour with a soft, filmic contrast curve and highlights that hold on and on. Grain is essentially invisible at box speed, giving a smooth, almost medium-format look from 35mm. Because it is a genuine cine stock it carries a remjet anti-halation layer, so it needs ECN-2 processing (or remjet removal before C-41) rather than a standard lab run.

Shooting & development tips
Shoot it in good light — at ISO 50 it wants sun or a tripod. Rate it at box speed and expose generously; the highlight latitude is huge but shadows thin out if underexposed. Confirm your lab does ECN-2 or removes remjet, or the remjet can foul C-41 chemistry.

Can I get Vision3 50D processed at a normal C-41 lab?
Not without preparation. 5203 has a remjet backing that must be removed, and it is designed for ECN-2. Send it to a lab that handles motion-picture film, or one that pre-removes remjet before a C-41 run.
How is 50D different from CineStill 50D?
CineStill 50D is the same 5203 emulsion with the remjet already removed so it can run in C-41. Straight 5203 keeps its remjet and needs ECN-2, but avoids the halation glow CineStill is known for.
