Generated color character — not a sample photograph

Rollei Ortho 25 Plus is a slow, orthochromatic black-and-white film with extremely fine grain and very high resolution, built for detail-critical work in good light.

Character & look

At ISO 25 and with an orthochromatic emulsion that is insensitive to red, Ortho 25 Plus resolves astonishing detail and renders reds darker and skies dramatically, in the classic early-photography way. Grain is virtually invisible and sharpness is exceptional, so it excels at landscape, architecture, reproduction and studio still life. The slow speed and narrow latitude ask for a tripod and careful metering, and because it is blind to red it can even be handled under a red safelight.

Shooting & development tips

Use a tripod and meter carefully in good light. Remember it is insensitive to red, so red subjects render dark and skies go dramatic without a filter.

FAQ

What does orthochromatic mean for Ortho 25 Plus?

It means the film is not sensitive to red light, so reds render dark and blues and greens dominate. It also lets you develop under a red safelight, and it gives dramatic skies without filters.
