Fujifilm Provia 100F is one of the few colour transparency films still made, and it is the balanced, natural choice next to the ultra-saturated Velvia. It is an ISO 100 E-6 slide film, sold in 35mm and 120, that produces a positive image on the film itself.
Colour and character
Provia renders colour accurately and cleanly, with neutral, believable tones and pleasing skin. It is saturated enough to look vibrant but never cartoonish, which makes it a versatile slide film for portraits, travel, product and general work where you want the scene to look true.
Grain and sharpness
As a modern E-6 film it is very fine-grained and sharp, and because a slide is a positive you view directly, the clarity and colour are striking on a light table or when scanned well.
Exposure and discipline
Slide film has narrow latitude, so exposure must be accurate; there is little room to recover blown highlights. Meter carefully, bracket when the light is tricky, and expose for the highlights. That discipline is the trade for the unmatched look of a well-exposed transparency.

Strengths: accurate natural colour, fine grain, and the direct beauty of a positive image. Weaknesses: narrow exposure latitude that punishes mistakes, E-6 processing that is less common and pricier than C-41, and a slower ISO 100 speed.
